Boxlink's View On Pacquiao vs Mosley
26 Dec.2010 London- This author has been a supporter of boxing for years especially of Manny Pacquiao. I've watched almost all of Pacquiao's fight since his early fights as a Flyweight on Blow by Blow in the Philippines and seen Manny gradually became the best in the sport today. And he deserved that. I didn't have any problem or complain when he fought Diaz, Dela Hoya, Hatton and Cotto. Those were great fights and good match-ups (Eventhough Cotto is also from Top rank). But when Top Rank's Bob Arum made Pacquiao fight Joshua Clottey (which many seen as a boring fight), I started to think that Mr. Arum is not listening to the fans clamor. He seems to think only of his business and how to earn more money by making Pacquiao fight boxers from his stable. Which obviously will make more profit for his Top Rank Promotions. Then there was Antonio Margarito who is also promoted by Bob Arum. After a year of suspension, Mr. Arum gave Margarito a nice gift by giving him the fight with Pacquiao. And now Bob Arum made Pacquiao vs Mosley. When Shane Mosley was still promoted by Golden Boy and wanted a shot with Pacquiao, Bob Arum said that Shane is too old for Manny. Now that Mosley is an independent boxer, Mr. Arum grabbed him and gave him the Pacquiao sweepstakes. Because Top Rank will earn more money now than when Mosley was with Golden Boy. To me Bob Arum never listen to us boxing fans. He is a greedy and selfish old man (Again, Pacquiao's last three fights, Cotto, Clottey and Margarito are all promoted by Bob Arum).
These are the reasons why Boxlink, for the very first time, WILL NOT SUPPORT THE PACQUIAO-MOSLEY FIGHT. I want Bob Arum to know that we, boxing fans are not stupid. That we will not just watch any fight he wanted us to see. Manny Pacquiao deserves a better fight with either Juan Manuel Marquez or Andre Berto aside from Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxlink will not spend a penny to buy pay-per-view that will give more profit to the greedy old man. -grsg03/boxlink

"Manny Pacquiao Could Quit" -Freddie Roach
Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach fears his fighter is set to quit boxing to concentrate on politics.
Five-weight world champion Pacquiao won a seat in the Philippine Congress in May and Roach said there are signs he has fallen out of love with the sport.
Pacquiao, 31, meets Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC light-middleweight crown in Dallas on 13 November.
"We are going to lose Manny Pacquiao to politics, for sure," Roach told BBC World Service.
"After the first couple of days of training Manny came up to me and said 'I miss my job', and I said 'you're at your job', and he said 'no, I miss Congress'."
Pacquiao, who is a national hero in the Philippines, represents the province of Sarangani and stated after being elected that he would have only one more fight.
And Roach's comments will disappoint boxing fans across the globe because they suggest a super-fight with American great Floyd Mayweather will never happen.
A planned fight between the pair fell through in January when Pacquiao refused Mayweather's demands for random blood and urine tests.
And Roach added he was concerned by Pacquiao's preparation for the Margarito contest, saying they "haven't had the best training camp".
"I'm worried about the fight a little bit," said Roach, who was talking to BBC boxing commentator Mike Costello in the Philippine city of Baguio, where Pacquiao has been sparring with, among others, Britain's WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan.
"We're fighting against a big, strong guy who's going to be in great shape and we're a little behind schedule which is very unusual.
"I'm not sure if it's the size of the sparring partners that's giving him trouble or he's just not himself yet.
"He's getting better and better every day but it's coming a lot slower than usual.
"Usually Manny has his first sparring session and could fight 12 rounds the next day, I can't say that at this point in the camp.
"But we do have two hard weeks of sparring coming up before we start tapering off and slowing down and saving it for the fight."
As well as boxing and politics, Pacquiao has appeared in feature films, television shows and released a number of albums.
Mexico's Margarito, a former welterweight world champion, has won 38 of his 45 fights and has fought some of the biggest names of the era.
However, he was banned after illegal hand wraps were found in his gloves before a bout against Shane Mosley last January and has fought only once since then. (BBC Sports News)

It's Pacquiao vs Margarito For The Vacant WBC Super Welterweight
Manny Pacquiao will fight Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13 for a vacant super welterweight championship, either in Las Vegas if Margarito can get licensed or in Monterrey, Mexico, if he can’t, promoter Bob Arum said.
Manny Pacquiao's fight vs. Antonio Margarito will likely take place in either Las Vegas or Monterrey, Mexico.
That ends any possibility of a match between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the top two boxers in the world, for 2010.
Arum said he decided to choose Margarito instead of Miguel Cotto, whom Pacquiao stopped in the 12th round in November, because it would be perceived as a more competitive bout. The bout will be offered on HBO Pay-Per-View.
“Cotto was beaten and even with [Hall of Fame trainer] Emanuel Steward now with him, I don’t think people believe that it’s enough to make a difference and I’m not sure they would buy it as competitive,” Arum said by telephone from his vacation home in Los Angeles. “But putting aside the controversy about the wraps, the one thing you know for sure with a Margarito fight is that it will be a hell of a fight for however long it lasts.
“Margarito knows only one way to fight and that’s coming forward. They’re going to get in there and fight. That’s what people want to see.”
Margarito’s hand-wrap controversy is no minor matter, however. He was caught with a hardened substance in his knuckle pad prior to a Jan. 24, 2009, fight in California against Shane Mosley.
He was forced to re-wrap his hands and was knocked out in the ninth round by Mosley. In February 2009, he was suspended for a year by the California State Athletic Commission.
He fought once since the Mosley fight, winning a lackluster unanimous decision over Roberto Garcia.
He applied for a license in Nevada on July 9, but by a 4-1 vote, the Nevada Athletic Commission tabled the matter and told Margarito to return to California. Arum said Margarito will file paperwork with California on Monday.
If Nevada grants Margarito a license, Arum said the fight would be in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. If not, it is all but certain to wind up at a 22,000-seat arena in Monterrey, Mexico, though a group from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is also bidding for the fight.
Skip Avansino, a member of the Nevada commission, said he thinks California regulators should consider it first, even though Margarito doesn’t plan to fight there. The California commission knows the matter best, Avansino said.
Avansino wasn’t willing to speculate what would occur if California were to decline taking up his request, given he doesn’t have a fight planned in the state.
“He certainly deserves a decision,” Avansino said. “I don’t know what procedures California will consider in connection with his reapplication. I would think that they would consider his application appropriately, just as we would, but I would want to wait until I see what California decides.”
Avansino said he wouldn’t be swayed by the huge economic impact the fight would have upon the depressed Las Vegas economy.
Pacquiao is a huge draw in Las Vegas and is one of the few boxers who attracts high-rolling Asian gamblers, who play $25,000-a-hand blackjack as well as baccarat. Las Vegas casinos had their best night in two years Nov. 14, 2009, when Pacquiao fought Cotto, because of the large influx of high-rollers who flooded Las Vegas, according to analysis by the Nevada Gaming Commission.
“I’m mindful of the economic conditions in the state of Nevada and I understand them well,” Avansino said. “I have every interest to improve and help improve the economy in this state. But as a commission, my responsibility is to protect the health and safety of those who compete in our state and to uphold the integrity of the sport. That’s my primary responsibility.”
The match would be for the World Boxing Council super welterweight championship. If Pacquiao wins it, it would be either the seventh or eighth division in which he has held a title, depending upon how it is calculated.
He has won sanctioning body titles at 112, 122, 130, 135, 140 and 147 pounds. At 126 pounds, he beat Marco Antonio Barrera, who was the linear champion. But Barrera had surrendered all of his sanctioning body titles by the time he fought Pacquiao, though he had not been beaten. (Kevin Lole/Yahoo Sports)

Floyd Mayweather Backs Out Of Pacquiao Fight
Mayweather pulling out? (AP Photo)The proposed showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao seems to have been called of again permanently.
Speaking to reporters during an charity appearance with the make a wish foundation, Mayweather stated that he would be taking 'a year or two' off from the sport of boxing.
Mayweather granted the wish of a young man by the name of Armando suffering from Hodgkins disease, who wanted to meet his favorite fighter. During the course of the event, a reporter joked that Armando wanted to see Mayweather take on Manny Pacquiao the most, to which Mayweather revealed that he was taking another leave of absence.
Whether he will return to the ring at some point is not clear, and he says that he doesn't know what the future holds.
According to all other sources, a fight between the two pound for pound stalwarts was nearly made, and the two opposing camps were negotiating behind closed doors. Whether Mayweather has made this news clear to his promoting representatives at Golden Boy isn't clear, and if not than he will have been wasting their time in having them engage in talks with Top Rank all this time.
Without stating any particular reason for not wanting to fight again for an extended period, it will no doubt appear that Floyd is merely sidestepping Pacquiao, a fighter many believe would hand him his first career loss. Certainly this news will dampen the last days of Pacquiao's career as well, and his next opponent will now probably either be Antonio Margarito or Miguel Cotto.
This latest revelation will no doubt further damage Mayweather's public persona, which had already taken a battering when he accused Pacquiao of being a drug user without evidence. Not only this, but Mayweather's legacy will no doubt be tarnished as well, and even if he remains undefeated if he does fight again, there will always be a question mark as to whether Pacquiao would have beaten him. Floyd Mayweather Sr: "My son will never fight Manny Pacquiao"
Floyd Mayweather Sr has never been short of a word and his latest accusation is just ridicules. Mayweather Sr told CBS Radio during a recent interview he feels Manny Pacquiao has had sufficient time to clean his body of performance enhancing drugs.
"Why the sudden change of mind?" asked Mayweather Sr. "Pacquiao walked away from the opportunity to face my son in March, so why has he had a sudden change of mind and is now agreeing to all forms of testing."
“Why do you think that is?
You tell me why?”
Mayweather asked the interviewer, when no response was forthcoming Mayweather Sr went on to say “Six months have passed, sufficient time to clear your body of any illegal substance, that’s why.
The claim is Ironic, Mayweather Sr was asked, If Pacquiao was using (which I doubt) one thing is for sure if he’s agreeing to Floyd request for Olympic style testing surly this will leave no questions and both camps will know for sure neither man is on any performance enhancing drugs.
One writer from the examiner.com may have hit the nail on the head. Roger Allen suggested Manny Pacquiao might have been looking ahead to the Philippines elections, and a defeat against Mayweather could have severely affected his voting numbers, this might answer the question with regards to the sudden change of mind.
Listen, Said Mayweather Sr, “let me educate you on something, if your body has been receiving substances to improve your athletic ability over a long period of time then you stop, your body may be clean but you have taken your body to a place it otherwise would not have been, Just because you have stopped taking, does not mean your body is no longer benefiting from the years of use”.
Now I’m no nutritionist or conditioning coach, but Daddy Mayweather’s comments did make sense to the uneducated among us, it does seem a realistic possibility that an individual can still harvest the benefits from years of use, even when stopped. But again I must stress this assumption is all based on whether Manny Pacquiao is or has ever used any kind of performance enhancers, which I doubt.
Floyd Mayweather Jr himself stated “I gave Pacquiao a chance, up to 14 days from the fight. But my new terms are all the way up to the fight. They can come get us whenever, all the way up to the fight, random drug test. That’s what it is,” Mayweather was quoted as saying.
Mayweather Jr has made clear that the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) will decide when the testing is carried out. All testing should be random up to the day of the fight, “I fail to realise the problem as both of us will be subject to these rules”.
Mayweather Sr, was asked about his recent statement of having reservations regarding his son fighting a southpaw. “It does not matter what stance Pacquiao fights, my son will never fight him”. (Ronald C Charles/theboxinghistorian.com)

Pacquiao Won't Entertain Anymore Demands From Mayweather
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said Saturday that the super fight between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. now depends on the American boxer after he has agreed to undergo a blood test 14 days before their faceoff.
"Talagang hindi siya lalaban kung mangatwiran ulit siya," Pacquiao told radio dzMM when asked what he would do if Mayweather comes up with a new demand.
He said that if ever the superfight fails to push through, he may still fight another boxer or just retire and focus on his newfound career in politics.
Pacquiao has been proclaimed as winner in Sarangani Province's congressional race. He toppled a member of a powerful political clan in the province.
The Filipino boxer said he will take a 1-week crash course on public administration and governance at the University of the Philippines.
He said he is also determined to finish his business management course at the Notre Dame University in 2 years and then take up law.
Pacquiao clarified Friday that the blood that would extracted from him should only be minimal for the drug test.
“Pumayag naman ako pero hindi yung talagang maraming dugo na kukunin. Kung anong dugo ang kelangan sa drug test, ganoon lang karami. Fourteen days [before the fight],” Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo.
Pacquiao said during the radio interview that he has yet to receive a feedback from the camp of Mayweather.
The reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion said he softened his stand after listening to boxing fans’ clamor for a mega fight between him and Mayweather.
“Everywhere I go… gusto talaga nila ng Mayweather fight. [They ask me] over and over,” said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao made the decision to fight the former pound-for-pound king weeks after he received permission from his mother, Dionisia Pacquiao, for one last bout.
The blood test controversy was the reason the negotiations between the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps collapsed early this year.
The two would have fought last March 13, but Mayweather ended up fighting Shane Mosley and Pacquiao battling Ghana's Joshua Clottey.
Pacquiao’s camp earlier agreed to undergo tests 24 days before the fight, but Mayweather’s group insisted that blood should be taken 14 days prior to the fight.
Blood test as the drug protocol is the personal requirement for Mayweather. Athletic commissions require urine tests on boxers as the form of drug testing, and Pacquiao has never had a problem.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said he learned the last day for blood testing used by Mayweather and "Sugar" Shane Mosley in their recent fight was 18 days prior to the fight.
"The USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) stopped the blood test... they took 5 or 6 tests but the last one was 18 days for Mosley and 19 days for Mayweather," he told ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo in a phone interview. (abs-cbn news.com)

Bob Arum Also Discussing Pacquiao vs Marquez III
In a recent interview, world-class trainer/manager Nacho Beristain revealed that representatives of Top Rank Promotions contacted him to discuss the possibility of a third bout between his fighters, lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. “Well, they’ve already offered the fight,” he stated as he discussed the future plans of Marquez, who’s already scheduled to face Juan Diaz this summer. “Nothing official, but we did get an offer from the people at Top Rank Promotions, however, it was a miserable deal,” Beristain continued. “I won’t accept that type of offer under any circumstances.”
It’s unclear as to how “miserable” the offer really was, but it’s obvious that promoter Bob Arum is already exploring backup plans if a fight with Mayweather should fall through the cracks again. Arum has also hinted that former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is also in the running, but he has yet to be licensed in the United States, despite having a successful return to the ring earlier this month in Mexico after his lengthy suspension. No matter who he faces next, however, Pacquiao is expected to return to the ring this November.
Interestingly enough, despite the fact that Marquez has repeatedly sought after a third bout after losing the rematch, Beristain seems to think that it’s Pacquiao who’s doing the chasing. “It’s Pacquiao that has the thorn in his side and the rock in his shoe,” he would tell Boxinqtalk’s Michael Gonzalez.. “He will leave boxing knowing that the people who follow boxing, who are experts in boxing, know he was never able to defeat Juan Manuel Marquez.” I don’t know about all of that, but I do know that if it’s not going to be Mayweather standing in the ring with Pacquiao, personally, I’d prefer it to be Marquez, especially if I’m going to have to pay $49.95 to watch it.

Pacquiao Willing To Take Random Drug Test For Nov. 13 Fight Against Mayweather
By NICK GIONGCO
May 20, 2010, 4:44pm
Here’s a piece of good news to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As part of efforts to agree on a November 13 fight, Manny Pacquiao said he is amenable to undergo random drug and urine testing 14 days before the fight.
“As long as they’re not getting a large amount of blood, I am willing to give out blood as close to two weeks before the fight,” Pacquiao told the Bulletin late Wednesday night during a lull in shooting a Ginebra commercial in Makati.
Pacquiao said he will not hesitate to be tested provided that the amount to be taken would be minimal, noted the 31-year-old fighter, gesturing with his pointer and index fingers a measurement equivalent to a short syringe.
Pacquiao and Mayweather had agreed in principle to face off but a last-minute demand by Mayweather for Olympic-style testing did not augur well with Pacquiao’s handlers, saying they would not be bullied into accepting his seemingly-outlandish terms.
Pacquiao narrated the incident during the first fight with Erik Morales in March 2005 when a large amount was taken from him on the eve of the fight that he eventually lost by unanimous decision.
“I felt very weak after they got the blood,” said Pacquiao, motioning with his fingers once again the size of the syringe that was used in extracting blood from his arm.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao, has his schedule all figured out: Congress in the daytime and gym in the afternoon.
Pacquiao said he can handle the role of being fighter and lawmaker and that “time management” is the key to getting things done.
“I will attend sessions in the morning until afternoon then I go to the gym around 4 or 5 p.m.,” said Pacquiao, who will take his oath as congressman of Sarangani on June 30.
“I will stay in the country during training camp then with two weeks before the fight, I will fly to the US,” said Pacquiao, stressing that during his absence, his staff will assume his countless responsibilities.
As in previous training camps, there would still be the usual early-morning roadwork then gym work in the afternoon, according to the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight king.
“Nothing’s going to change as far as my training is concerned even though I am now a congressman because I will carefully map out my schedule. I will still wake up early becauseI have to run in the morning.”
The past few days, Pacquiao has been busy consulting with his political advisers so he can easily adjust to his new role by July.
Next month, Pacquiao will leave for New York to personally receive the Fighter of the Year award – his third – that will be given out by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
“I am truly honored by this award that I am about to receive,” said Pacquiao, whose trophy chest also includes numerous plaques and trophies given by the Philippine Sportswriters Association, the oldest media organization in the country that carefully tracked the boxer’s rise to fame and fortune.

My grsg03 YouTube account has been terminated due to HBO copyright issues of my videos "Manny Pacquiao Speed Kills" and "Pacquiao vs Mayweather Clash Of The Kings". The Speed Kills video was on YouTube for about a year now which had almost 400,000 views but I didn't receive any notification about copyright when i first posted it. It took HBO and YouTube one year and more than one million total views before terminating my account. Are HBO and YouTube have other things in their mind after Manny Pacquiao wins a Congressional seat in the Philippines? Just wondering because of the timing of my account's termination.

Bob Arum: Manny Pacquiao's Next Fight Nov. 13, Hopefully Against Mayweather
By Josh Slagter | The Grand Rapids Press
May 11, 2010, 9:00PM
With a Congressional win under Manny Pacquiao's belt in the Philippines, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum already has Pacquiao's next move planned: a Nov. 13 fight in either Dallas or Las Vegas.
Arum told BoxingScene.com's Ronnie Nathanielsz that he's already reserved Cowboys Stadium and MGM Grand and doesn't think Pacquiao's newly elected position will adversely affect his fighting career.
"The cable systems and the satellite providers have put the date (Nov. 13) aside for us, so the table is set," Arum said. Manny can get sworn in at the end of June, then attend the sessions of congress in July and -- as long as he keeps in shape -- then he has plenty of time to train for the fight.
"I always knew he was going to fight and I'm off back to the States and I'm going to be working very, very hard to make the (Floyd) Mayweather Jr. fight because that's the fight everybody wants to see."
Mayweather is coming off a 12-round decision victory over Shane Mosley on May 1, a bout that attracted 1.4 million pay-per-view buys.
Negotiations between Pacquiao and Mayweather previously failed because of the Grand Rapids native's insistence on random urine and blood testing and the Filipino star's refusal to adhere to such demands.
If Mayweather-Pacquiao can't be made again -- and there's no early indication either side will be willing to budge -- Arum said he has other options.
"If we can't make that, then there are other fights, like (Antonio) Margarito and the winner of Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman, but absolutely everybody wants to see the Mayweather fight, the congressman wants the Mayweather fight and we are going to get it for him."

Power Of Pacquiao Puts Mayweather In Fear Of KO
Joshua Clottey trainer Lenny "The Locksmith" DeJesus does not buy the notion that Floyd Mayweather put the kibosh on fighting Manny Pacquiao because of a disagreement over random blood testing.
DeJesus, 64, a veteran of 75 world championship bouts dating back to the 15 rounds or less era, told me Wednesday he is convinced Mayweather dodged fighting Pacman out of simple fear.
"It's two things with Mayweather," DeJesus said from the Clottey training camp in Fort Lauderdale. "One thing is his precious undefeated record. Floyd doesn't want to lose that. Let me be blunt, I think he rejected a Manny fight because he wants to make sure he stays undefeated and because he's worried that he could get knocked out.
"If not for those worries then, why wouldn't Floyd take the fight and, whatever happens in the fight, he goes to the bank laughing with $40 million?"
DeJesus thinks Mayweather should not worry so much about protecting his unbeaten status.
"Fans don't care about all that. Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Wilfredo Gomez, who I worked with, they all lost but they came back to win. I just think Mayweather had an eerie feeling that Manny Pacquiao could take him out. Like Joe Louis said, you can run but you can't hide and he could run against Manny all night.
"Floyd could be jumping around like a jackal but somewhere in the fight he would feel Manny's power and that's what boxing is all about, hurting power. That's the game of boxing."
DeJesus injected a little humor into the situation.
"I thank three people for Joshua getting this (March 13) bout against Manny," DeJesus said.
"First, I thank Freddie Roach for taking the fight. Second, I thank Manny for taking the fight. Third, I've got to thank Mayweather for not taking the fight."
DeJesus worked six different bouts in Megamanny's corner as a cutman when promoter Murad Muhammad was handling the fighter but then got cut adrift when Shelly Finkel and Gary Shaw moved in on Manny and Murad walked the promotional plank.
"I feel good, I feel confident about this fight," DeJesus said. "I like Freddie Roach, we go back to when he was the bucket boy for Eddie Futch. Freddie hit the jackpot with Manny in a way I never did with one fighter.
"But we'll see in Dallas, at the end of the day, who's done the better job of preparing his fighter, me or Freddie. Joshua didn't have that extra oomph he needed to beat (Miguel) Cotto but I was in a different role then.
"The (training camp) environment wasn't right for that fight but that was then and now is now."
And Fight Night at Cowboys Stadium is inching closer. (source: michael marley/examiner.com)
Roach: Clottey Could Be Our Last Fight..If Mayweather Doesn't Come Around.
Freddie Roach has suggested Manny Pacquiao's clash with Joshua Clottey could be the Filipino's swansong if a deal cannot be struck with Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
Pacquiao, the recent conqueror of Ricky Hatton, has signed to fight Clottey on March 13 at Cowboys Stadium.
The Pacquiao and Mayweather Jnr camps have made positive noises about getting together in the ring, but they have failed to iron out the details of the fight. Legendary trainer Roach is still hopeful some common ground can be found, but suggests Pacquiao may turn his back on boxing if no deal is signed.
"If Mayweather doesn't come around after this fight and sign to fight us, this could be our last one," Roach told East Side Boxing's On The Ropes show.
Roach expects Clottey to be a durable opponent for Pacquiao. "We're going to have to break him down and it will be in the late, late rounds." Roach added. "I really don't have a number in mind, because I think we will get him somewhere along the way, but it's going to be a battle up until that point, though."
Mayweather Jnr is due to fight Shane Mosley on May 1 and Roach expects the former to retain his unbeaten record.
"Shane's been after that fight for a long time, but I do feel that Mayweather will win the fight," Roach said. "It's a very competitive fight, and it's great to see that fight happening and hopefully the winner of this fight will fight the winner of Pacquiao-Clottey. It would be a great match-up." Shane Mosley Signs Deal To Fight Mayweather Jr.
Shane Mosley's attorney has confirmed that a contract to fight Floyd Mayweather Jnr has been signed by his client, with Mayweather's signature to come "in the next two days".
Mosley has agreed to fight Mayweather on May 1, with the MGM Grand Garden Arena the likely venue. Attorney Judd Burstein insists he has the word of Mayweather's lead advisor, Leonard Ellerbe, that the fight will happen.
"It's a fight people have wanted to see for a long time, but never happened for whatever reasons," Burstein told the Los Angeles Times. "Now that it's going to happen, Shane is looking forward to doing what he and many of his fans have long thought he would do."
Mosley had initially been scheduled to fight Andre Berto on Saturday night, but his opponent understandably had to withdraw for personal reasons following the Haiti earthquake, where members of his family are located. The bout has now been scrapped for the foreseeable future.
Now Mosley's attentions will turn to Mayweather (40-0), although confirmation is yet to arrive as to whether "Sugar" Shane's WBA welterweight belt will be on the line. However, Burnstein did reveal that Mosley has agreed to Mayweather's stipulations for random drug-testing, which was the reason Manny Pacquiao recently pulled out negotiations with the Mayweather camp.
Both Mosley and Mayweather have accused each other of ducking one another during their careers. This time, it seems nothing stands in the way of the latter putting pen to paper on the bout. (source: espn)
